Monday, 21 February 2022

This month's LoveLula Beauty Box is here and once again, it's a real treat for fans of natural skincare! February's edit also contains four full-size products, making it excellent value for money, so let's take a closer look at what's inside, shall we?

Organic Works Daily Hydration Renewal Night Cream
Formulated especially for sensitive skin, this Renewal Night Cream from Scottish brand, Organic Works, is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free with 98.9% ingredients derived from natual origin. It contains Vitamin E, alongside calming essential oils such as Lavender, to nourish, balance and restore stressed skin whilst you sleep.

Balm Balm Hygge Hand & Body Balm
Like many, I'm a huge fan of the Scandi Hygge concept, so I was pleased to see this luxurious Hand & Body Balm which is made from a warming blend of Clove, Sweet Orange and Mandarin essential oils. These are wrapped up in an ultra soothing base of Beeswax, Shea Butter, Calendula and Jojoba Oil, to instantly hydrate and soften any dry areas including hands. As with most balms of this nature, a little goes a long way!

PHB Ethical Beauty Lash & Brow Growth Serum
Big lashes and brows continue to be a big trend and this handy 100% natural PHB Lash & Brow Growth Serum is here to help! It has a super easy to use wand applicator (like a regular mascara) so you can just sweep it through lashes and brows twice a day, morning and night. The key ingredients which help to boost growth are Castor Oil, Biotin and Caffeine Oil.

Ooh! Oils Of Heaven Organic Milk Thistle Face Oil
The last product this month is another full-size gem, this time from Ooh! Oils Of Heaven. The new Organic Milk Thistle Face Oil is rich in antioxidants and has naturally nurtitive and protective qualities for the skin. Suited for all skin types, including sensitive. I'm excited to try it!

The Weekend Post: 4 Unique Wedding Ideas

Monday, 14 February 2022

Everyone wants their special day to be memorable and unique. These days weddings are moving further and further away from the more traditional format and creative brides-to-be are taking this opportunity to really let their personality shine through. And all that DIY wedding inspiration on Pinterest has shown us all that you do not need to spend a fortune to make your day unique and fun.

Looking for some inspiration for your own special day or have found that your wedding is missing that one last final touch that would make it more complete? Look no further.

Fireworks

Wedding fireworks are for those who believe that no gesture is too much or too big for their wedding day. Make a statement, send a message, and start your married life with a bang by getting a bespoke firework display with your choice of colours or have a personalised message written in the night sky to celebrate your day.

A Unique Guestbook

A guestbook is a popular choice for weddings because it provides you with a keepsake for you to look back on for years to come, by reading messages from all your family and friends from the day you got married. So why not use this opportunity to get creative with your guestbook? Get each of your guests to decorate a quilt square that will then be sewn together into a keepsake wedding quilt, opt for an audio guestbook where your guests pick up a phone and record their messages for you to listen back, and the retro phone works as a unique decorative piece too. Provide a typewriter for your guests to type up their messages.

Interactive Party Favours

Inject a bit of fun into dinner by laying out some interactive party favours. Provide each guest with something fun to do at the table to help keep the conversation flowing and eliminate any awkward silences that might occur amongst unfamiliar guests. Little puzzles and games, a trivia quiz to see how well they know the happy couple, a cute wedding bingo card, bubbles and silly string to keep the children (and the big kids) entertained, personalised bottles of alcohol for the guests to toast with – the possibilities are endless. A thoughtful and perceptive party favour you can hand out as your guests’ leave is a hangover recovery kit that they will definitely appreciate in the morning.

And Finally: Photo opportunities

There will be a high-quality camera in every pocket and handbag at your wedding and there is no doubt that people will be taking photos everywhere, all day. So why not provide your guests with the perfect backdrop for their personal photoshoots? You can keep things classic with a flower wall or get a neon sign for guests to pose under, get silly with a photo cut-out where guests can poke their head through or provide some crazy props for guests to use however they like. There are plenty of options for hiring a photo booth where guests can take their physical photos home with them on the day.

Natural Health: Do Bach Flower Remedies Work? A Look At Walnut, Mimulus, White Chestnut & Larch

Saturday, 12 February 2022

Bach Flower Remedies have remained popular in the natural health world since their inception in the 1930s, and these cult homeopathic remedies are found in the cupboards of celebrities, royal families, and the general public, across the world.

What Are Bach Flower Remedies?
Bach Flower Remedies are a wide range of natural remedies which help to support all aspects of emotional health. They were developed by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930s in England, whilst searching for a new healing technique for his patients with emotional problems and inbalances. Dr. Bach was fascinated by the energy of the sun and its healing ability on plants and wanted to find a way to harness this natural power in a way that could benefit humans.

What Are Bach Flower Remedies Made From?
Contrary to popular belief, Bach Flower Remedies don't actually contain any active parts of the named flower. Instead, they are a 100% natural tincture created by infusing the specific flower in spring water and allowing the sun's rays to pass through it. This is then preserved in a solution of grape brandy to form the final remedy.

How Do I Choose The Right Bach Flower Remedies For Me?
There are 38 Bach Flower Remedies to choose from and each one serves a different purpose so you might find that you want to use more than one to address your individual needs, especially if there are multiple complex emotional issues that you're dealing with. The easiest way to discover which ones you'll be best suited to is by searching the online catalogue of remedies where you can read up on the different benefits.

I have four of the most commonly used Bach Flower Remedies below to give you a very short introduction into this wide range.

Try Walnut - When You're Experiencing Big Life Changes
If you're struggling with a big life change such as the menopause, puberty, a relationship break up, the stress of moving house or dealing with a bereavement, Walnut is the remedy to try, to help support your mind in adapting to these changes. It can also be useful to help protect against outside influences/energies that are attempting to derail your ambitions and goals.

Try Mimulus - For Known Fears & Shyness
Most of us have a known phobia, whether it's something like a fear of spiders, heights or public speaking for example. Mimulus helps you to face your fears so that they don't bring disruption or stress to your life.

Try White Chestnut - When You're Experiencing Anxiety, Worry & Insomnia
Many of the Bach Flower Remedies are suitable as an alternative natural treatment for mild symptoms of anxiety, and White Chestnut is particularly popular for anyone who struggles with the classic signs of worrying by having too many thoughts racing in their mind. White Chestnut is thought to be a mind-soother and can also help when you need to concentrate and focus on tasks and if you're experiencing insomnia.

Try Larch - When You Need A Boost Of Confidence
Lack of confidence can affect us all at some point, so when you need a boost, Larch is seen as a little helper to allow you to achieve when you're feeling discouraged or expecting failure.

Do Bach Flower Remedies Work?
Bach Flower Remedies are one of the most 'marmite' of all the natural remedies that I can think of, in fact, it's almost a direct 50/50 split in opinion whenever I discuss them with people. Some absolutely swear by them, others suggest that they're nothing more than a placebo. So who's right? Well, if you're looking from a purely scientific viewpoint, Bach Flower Remedies do not fare well and have been found to have no effiacy in all the clinical trials they have been tested in.

However, I wouldn't completely dismiss them as I believe they can play an important role as a natural alternative remedy in the same way that a placebo does. If someone believes they can help, sometimes this is enough to change one's mental state in a positive manner, and as Bach Flower Remedies have no side effects, they are safe to at least try. I'll leave you to decide!

Bach Flower Remedies are available from various stockists including bachremedies.com
