Fed up with premade palettes that always seem to have at least one shade that you never, ever use? Fancy building your own perfect eyeshadow palette instead? The latest makeup release from Phase Zero lets you do just that!
Last month, I introduced you all to the shiny new world of Phase Zero cosmetics (check out that post on their amazing Liquid Lipsticks here if you missed it), which is the new cruelty-free makeup range that's available exclusively from Love Me Beauty.
If you'd like to get your hands on Phase Zero, you'll want to subscribe to Love Me Beauty for £5 per month (less than the price of a latte and a sandwich from Starbucks!) to get the best deals. This allows you to purchase any Phase Zero makeup at much more affordable prices, with up to 77% off the RRP. As the range is new, they are adding products on a monthly basis, so currently there's a range of Liquid Lipsticks, Lip Glosses, Lip Toppers, and these latest Eyeshadows for their Build Your Own Palette concept.
I love Build Your Own Palettes because I often find that many premade palettes have at least one shade that I'm unlikely to wear, and I hate feeling like I've wasted money on a product that I'm never going to use. A number of makeup brands now offer BYO palettes, but naturally, they're often a lot more expensive than the premade ones, so it's great to come across one like this that's easier on the old purse strings!
Let's get this party started with a quick overview of the palette itself (£4.80 member's price). The front design has a cool holographic style print alongside the Phase Zero logo, and it feels very much like a Z Palette. It's sturdy yet compact, and has a large mirror on the reverse of the lid inside. Opening it, you'll find space for up to 12 Phase Zero eyeshadows, although I would only recommend it for 11 at most as it's quite a snug fit for all 12. The eyeshadows are on magnetic bases, so you all you need to do is select which ones you want, and then they'll automatically stick inside the palette.
You can buy the eyeshadows in a range of colours, and currently, everything available has more of a neutral vibe going on, with some stunning metallics in the mix. The eyeshadows are available to purchase singularly (£2.90 each, member's price), in duos (£5 member's price), trios (£6.99 member's price), and in sets of 6 (£9.99 member's price).
I have 12 of the eyeshadow shades to show you below to give you an idea of what's on offer:-
From L-R: Party Dress, Pearl, Cashmere and Snowball
- Party Dress - A gorgeous dark grey/black with lots of silver glitter. Seriously pigmented!
- Pearl - Beautiful, glowy pearly-pink shimmer that looks very pretty all over the lid.
- Cashmere - A rusty coppery-pink with fine gold shimmer and a sheer satin finish.
- Snowball - Pale white highlight with a bright golden shimmer.
From L-R: Banana Beige, Nude Newbie, Bright Light, Coffee Cup
- Banana Beige - Golden sheer satin with yellow undertones. Quite pale on my olive skin tone.
- Nude Newbie - Light pink shimmer, again this pulls very light on my olive skin tone.
- Bright Light - Super pigmented white highlighter shade - look at that shimmer!
- Coffee Cup - Beautiful rich chocolate brown with fine gold shimmer.
From L-R: Cocoa, Warm Taupe, Velvet, Mush-a-Boom
- Cocoa - Mid-brown shimmer with warm undertones, lovely crease shade to add definition.
- Warm Taupe - Gorgeous soft taupe shade with a golden satin sheen finish. Beautiful all over the lid.
- Velvet - Incredible warm purple with red undertones and golden shimmer, absolutely stunning and insanely pigmented!
- Mush-a-Boom - Warm grey taupey shade with subtle shimmer.
Overall thoughts?
These eyeshadows have been some of my most reached for over the past month and I think they're all fantastic quality that's comparable to the likes of MAC and Urban Decay. There are definitely a couple of shades that I'm completely in love with (Pearl, Coffee Cup, Cocoa, Warm Taupe, Velvet and Mush-a-Boom), and they all have a silky soft formula that makes them easy to blend and work with.
Some of the paler shades like Banana Beige, Nude Newbie and Bright Light don't do a lot for my skin tone, but I think they would work well for others. The only shade that I struggled with was Snowball as the formula was a little too soft and I experienced a lot of fallout with it, but there are enough shades here to keep me happy and there are plenty more to choose from on the Love Me Beauty website!
