Jazz up a simple salad with this flavour-packed vinaigrette salad dressing that's much lower in saturated fat than many of the ready made oil based dressings you'll find on the supermarket shelf (and much tastier too!).
The key to making an amazing homemade classic vinaigrette salad dressing is to not skimp on the ingredients, and buy the best quality products that you can afford. My local supermarket was out of organic options unfortunately, but you can of course tailor this quick and easy recipe to your own tastes and budget based on what's available to you.
Vegans can easily replace the honey with something like agave nectar, and you can experiment with different oil bases instead of rapeseed or olive oil, although if you're watching the pennies, Aldi does a fantastic British cold-pressed rapeseed oil for just £1.99 as part of their Specially Selected range (shown below).
Ingredients:-
- 1tsp good quality wholegrain mustard
- 3tbsp cyder vinegar
- 5 tbsp cold pressed rapeseed oil
- 1tsp honey or agave nectar
- salt & pepper to taste (optional)
How to:-
Pour all the ingredients into a small container with a lid or a jam jar, and shake thoroughly. That's it! Keep it in the fridge for up to a week and shake it up again each time before serving. Enjoy!
