Stop the sun from frazzling your hair with these two Summer Hair Saviours from Phyto. They help to protect your delicate mane from damaging UV rays so they're like sunscreen, but for your hair!
My hair is naturally on the dry side, but in Summer, it can get hideously straw-like due to the drying effects of the sun. In the past I've always just slathered on an ultra hydrating hair mask or some kind of treatment post-sun, but this year I'm attempting to prevent the damage, rather than trying to fix it afterwards.
My two little helpers are from Phyto's popular 'Plage' (French for 'beach') range, the original formula of which has been around since 1976. The bottles have been redesigned this year with a Limited Edition Vichy print inspired by Phyto muse Brigitte Bardot's wedding dress, which is pretty damn cute.
Phyto PhytoPlage Protective Sun Oil* (100ml, £16, link)
This is the original Sun Oil formula that's been loved by many since the late 70s and is definitely something of a cult classic product - having tested it out for myself, I can certainly see why. If you have super dry, coloured and/or damaged hair, this is the product for you as it protects against all of the elements of sun, salt and chlorine. Infused with Olive Wax, it gives hair a lovely healthy and glossy shine, whilst the inbuilt UV filter gets to work on shielding the hair from all those damaging UV rays and stoping coloured hair from premature fading. You can spritz it onto dry or damp hair and it has a gorgeous light floral scent, plus a little goes a long, long way.
Phyto PhytoPlage Protective Sun Veil* (125ml, £15, link)
Sun Veil is a much more lightweight version of Sun Oil, and it's better suited to those who have just normal to dry hair, as well as people who have fine hair. It has the same benefits as the Sun Oil in that it still protects the hair against sun, salt and chlorine with its handy UV filter, but it also adds some texture so it's a great multi-purpose styling product to throw into your beach bag. I like using this first thing on my fine hair when the sun's out, and then I'll switch to using the Sun Oil after swimming / around midday, for extra protection as my hair's very dry. Afterwards, I have noticed that my hair is a lot less frazzled and doesn't feel like straw so it's definitely doing something!
Have you tried anything from the Phyto PhytoPlage range?
