Father's Day is fast approaching (it's this Sunday!) and the shops are awash with gifts galore. If you're splashing out this year and are searching for a seriously luxury high-end gift, you could try this classic bestseller from Dolce & Gabbana.
Proper designer fragrances (and I mean the old-school fashion house brands rather than the celebrity scents) are always a popular gift idea, and their products lend themselves particularly well for occasions like Mother's and Father's Days. I think it's a combination of a well known and coveted designer brand, mixed with a slightly more mature and sophisticated palette that just fits perfectly.
I've used Dolce & Gabbana's The One on and off for about two years. I wouldn't say it's my signature scent per se, but it is in my top three favourites and something that I always have on rotation on my dressing table. I didn't know that they did a men's version of it until I recently had a sniff of a tester, and my initial thoughts were, 'this would be a mighty fine scent for my dad'.
The Dolce & Gabbana The One Eau De Parfum for Men comes in three sizes; 50ml, 100ml, 150ml, and I have the latter pictured above in its beautiful presentation case. Its chunky square bottle has a certain timeless yet contemporary feel about it, and certainly makes a statement in any man's bathroom or on their night stand.
Top notes for this fragrance come from Grapefruit, Basil and Coriander, with middle notes of Ginger, Cardamon and Orange Blossom giving it a warm, spicy, oriental scent. This is then further enhanced with rich and intense base notes of Tobacco, Amber and Cedarwood for a moody warmth. It's one of those fragrances that doesn't smell like any other as it's complex and sophisticated at the same time. Imagine someone like Matthew McConaughey (who coincidentally starts in the ad campaign for The One) or Tom Hiddleston wearing it and you have get an idea of the appeal of this fragrance.
Dolce & Gabbana The One Eau De Parfum for Men* retails from £55 for 50ml to £85 for 150ml - available exclusively from Harrods & Harrods.com
