SheaMoisture are a haircare brand that I've seen mentioned countless times by American bloggers that I follow, so I was pleased to see that they're now stocked in the UK via Boots online. My dry hair has been testing out these three from their Supefruit Complex range recently.
If you haven't come across SheaMoisture before, they're a US brand that have been around since 1912 (that's a long time when you think about how many beauty brands come and go these days!) and their products were originally created especially for black and afro hair. Since then, they've expanded significantly and have several dedicated ranges to care for all hair types.
The brand use mostly natural products and their formulas are free from Sulfates, Parabens, Phthalates, Parrafin, Mineral Oil and Synethic Colour, with their famous Shea Butter being certified Organic and Fair-Trade. With this in mind, I was eager to try out their Superfruit Complex range as their Shampoo and Conditioner won last year's Allure Reader's Choice Award which is pretty impressive!
The SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex range is suitable for all hair types and boasts 10 key benefits:-
- Sulfate-free cleansing
- Anti-aging benefits
- Colour Protection
- Hydration
- Nourishment
- Rejuvenation
- Anti-Stress, kind to hair
- Enhanced manageability
- Extra softness
- No build up
My Thoughts
I've tried out the Shampoo* (£10.99, 379ml) and Conditioner* (£10.99, 379ml) for just under a month now and I've enjoyed using both of them. They have a fresh, sort of fruity/floral scent which I like and I've found them gentle enough to use on a regular basis as I have quite a sensitive scalp. The shampoo does a great job of cleansing the hair without leaving it feeling stripped and the conditioner adds a good level of moisture without overloading or weighing down the hair.
The star of the range is definitely the Hair Masque* (£12.99, 326ml) though. It has a similar formulation to the Conditioner as it's also enriched with Marula Oil and Biotin, but it's a much thicker, concentrated cream as you'd expect, and it has Coconut Oil as its second ingredient (which my hair loves!). It leaves my hair feeling much softer and hydrated, as well as feeling stronger without any build up. I've been using it once a week and it barely looks like I've used anything in the tub as you really don't need much per application. One of the best, more budget-friendly, hair masks I've used in a long time!
