One of the biggest summer trends for nails are translucent or sheer bright shades which you may have seen from the likes of OPI and YSL earlier this year. Thankfully for my bank balance, Mavala have released their own on-trend collection which are much more affordable.
I feel that Mavala are one of the most underrated nail brands around. Their dinky iconic bottles look adorable on dressing tables and their long wearing formulas are free from parabens, formaldehydes, camphor, cellophane, animal ingredients and heavy metals.
Their new Jelly Effect Collection features six new summery shades which are all based on the sheer jelly trend, and I have three of them to share with you today.
Mavala - 282 Happy Cherry (with top coat)
Happy Cherry is a vibrant, super girly pink with purple undertones. This one would look amazing with a tan! I applied two coats for the look above and if you wanted it at full opacity, you'd need to apply another, but I quite like the semi-sheer juicy finish.
Mavala - 277 Smily Orange (without top coat)
If you like your summery oranges, you'll just love Smily Orange. This one was more opaque than the other two and I applied two coats again. It's a lovely bright tangerine and I thought it looked fruity enough without a top coat so you can the true finish that it delivers.
Mavala - 280 Jammy Plum (with top coat)
Jammy Plum was a surprise favourite as it's more of a muted summer shade than the other two brights and I really enjoyed wearing it. This is a gorgeous typical medium plum colour and has a great sheer jelly finish that really pops with a top coat as you can see above. Two coats again.
The Mavala Jelly Effect Collection* is available from John Lewis and larger Boots stores, priced at £4.95 each.
