Exfoliation is a key part of my skincare routine as it helps to remove old, dry skin cells from the surface in order to reveal all that lovely fresh, new, bright skin underneath. Getting exfoliation right though can be tricky which is where these clever facial discs from Colbert MD come in.
In skincare, there are generally two main types of exfoliators; physical or 'manual' ones i.e those with scrubby particles, and chemical ones i.e those that often use liquid acids to gently 'dissolve' the old skin cells. There are pros and cons for each side and like all things with skincare, I find it's a personal trial and error game that you sometimes have to play before you find the technique which is right for you. For me, I believe my skin likes a bit of both so I tend to swap around physical and chemical exfoliators in my routine to suit my skin's needs at the time.
One thing I am getting more into are exfoliating / toning pads which I'd say would come under the chemical exfoliator / acid-toning category, yet offers a tiny bit of manual effort from the pad itself. I've recently been trialling Colbert MD's Tone Control Facial Discs and boy, are these good.
What are they and what do they do?
The pads are much thicker than highstreet brands that I've tried in the past and are well soaked in solution so there's little fear of them drying up like some others are prone to do. They have a unique 'Symwhite' formula which primarily targets hyper-pigmentation and brown spots to get deep down into the skin, but they also does an amazing job as a gentle, yet effective all round exfoliator in the quest for a brighter looking complexion. On top of all that, they also acid-tone the skin, making it look more even and feel smoother.

How often to use and results?
As my skin is on the sensitive side, I've been using these only 1-2 times week but you can use them on a daily basis if your budget allows. On the very first use, I experienced a mild tingling sensation when I applied the pad but it wasn't an irritating one and the second time I used it, I didn't feel it again. My skin has definitely been looking noticeably brighter and healthier since I've been using these and it feels like I've had an expensive facial done at a spa every time I use one. The word 'glowing' definitely springs to mind.
Pricing?
Now at £65 for only 20 discs (which works at £3.25 per disc), these are certainly not a budget or affordable option for many to use on a regular basis. But if you have the cash to splash or want to invest in them as a weekly treatment kind of thing, then you certainly won't be disappointed. I can see why so many actresses and celebs sing the praises of Colbert MD now!

Colbert MD Tone Control Facial Discs* (£65 for 20 discs) are available from Space NK.
These sound pretty good, but I'm not sure I could justify £60 on them! They do look more luxurious then our high street offerings though...
