Teatonics Mind Awakening Yerba Mate & Laid Back Botanics tea review
Last week, I was lucky enough to win Amber's Teatonics giveaway and couldn't wait to open up my prize as soon as it arrived.  I'm a huge fan of herbal teas so when these came through the post, it was time to put on the kettle and have a cuppa!

Teatonics is the brainchild of Rosie and Charles, who fell in love with the tasty Yerba Mate plant during a trip around Latin America.  Yerba Mate has been used for years by the indigenous Guarani people of Paraguay and it's also popular in Southern Brazil thanks to its many natural benefits which help to control weight, boost metabolism and aid digestion.  It also has more antioxidants that Green Tea so I imagine it will soon become more popular in the UK!

The couple soon got to work making botanical teas which are hand milled in small batches in Dorset and use pure organic ingredients (certified by The Soil Association).  They currently have these two delicious blends available.

Created using a blend of Yerba Mate, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, Peppermint, Rosehips and natural Grapefruit flavour, this is the perfect tea to reach for when you need an instant pick me up.  Upon opening the pouch, I was greeted by the most amazing uplifting, zesty citrus mint aroma.  This scent translates well when you actually brew the tea and it really does help to wake you up.  Flavour wise, the Yerba Mate is quite strong and tastes similar to Green Tea, but the blend makes it predominately citrusy with a good dose of mint.  This is a great tea to have in your work desk to prevent those 3pm slumps and tastes equally as good iced as it does hot.

The direct opposite to the Mind-Awakening Yerba Mate is the Laid-Back Botanicals tea which has a simple blend of Green Rooibos, Elderflower, Chamomile, Lavender and Hops.  I've tried a lot of 'sleepy time' teas and this one certainly ranks highly with the best of them.  The Lavender is quite strong in this which is something of an acquired taste if you haven't tried it before, but I personally like it and find the blend to be very relaxing.  If you have trouble sleeping or have a lot of stress in your life, I'd definitely recommend trying this out.
