As Valentine's Day is on Saturday, this is my final gift related post and features three last minute ideas for those who are rushing to the shops.
Hugo Boss Hugo Woman Eau de Toilette* (30ml, £34.50, link)
A brand new fragrance from Hugo Boss, Hugo Woman is a scent for independent, extraordinary women who aren't afraid to mix things up with a perfume which has both traditionally feminine and masculine notes. I wasn't sure what to expect from this given that description, but it does marry the two sexes perfectly somehow. From the first spray, you can pick up on very fruity and dominate floral notes. I can detect Mandarin and Jasmine quite strongly, then after that you're greeted with more spicy and slightly masculine notes like Indian Black Tea and Black Plum and then there are woody base notes like Sandalwood and Amber. It's an unusual, complex, contemporary fragrance and would be perfect for those wanting to try something new and different.
Hugo Boss Hugo Man Eau de Toilette* (40ml, £29.50, link)
For him, there's also the new Hugo Man fragrance which is as equally complex and different as its female counterpart. This one is fruity, musky and woody with highlights of Papaya Flowers, Water Lilies, and Aquatic Green Apples which are mixed with core notes of Peach Nectarines, Wild Berries and Musk. Underneath all of those is a strong base of Sandalwood and Baltic Amber. I gave this to my housemate Dan to try out and he said it was a 'really good modern man scent - something that I'd wear when I wanted to make an impression on people'. Interesting!
Yves Rocher Quelques Notes d'Amour Eau de Parfum* (30ml, £34, link)
For something undeniably French and chic, Quelques Notes d'Amour from Yves Rocher is an excellent choice for all you loved up francophiles. Quelques is a sexy, seductive and glamourous perfume which would be an ideal companion for a romantic dinner out or cosy evening in. It has an exquisite blend of Rose Damascena absolute, Guaiac Wood and Benzoin which culminates in a sensuous floral meets woody scent that's very strong and heady so a little will go a long way with this. I love the elegant glass bottle design too as it has a cool vintage feel about it.
Have you tried any of these?
