Multi-tasking skincare products always appeal to me, so when a sample tube of Kaia Naturals' Bamboo Tapioca Beads arrived through my letterbox, I took it straight into the bathroom to investigate further.
Kaia Naturals' Bamboo Tapioca Beads are made in Toronto, Canada and are a simple, 100% natural product that uses tiny micronized pieces of Bamboo to give a gentle exfoliation to the skin. The base of this formula is made from a blend of Tapioca and Chickpea powder which both work to absorb excess oil/sebum, White Clay to declog pores and draws out impurities, and there's also Coconut Amino Acids that gently cleanse the skin.
To use this, you get to have some fun with your DIY Beauty skills! Simply mix 1/4 tsp of the powder into your preferred oil or tea (see below) until you have a milky looking paste. If you don't fancy an oil or tea, you can use plain water instead. Regardless of which method you go for, once you have your paste, just massage it into damp skin for a gentle cleanse and exfoliation or leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing off if you want to use it as a face mask.
So far I've tried Kaia Naturals Bamboo Tapioca Beads with Rosehip Oil and Green Tea, both of which gave me great results and helped to tackle some pesky blackheads. With the Rosehip Oil, I find it more hydrating and with the Green Tea it was slightly more detoxing (good to try in the morning if you have oily/combination skin). I've also used it as a face mask with Plain Yoghurt which left my previously dehydrated skin feeling really soothed and nourished afterwards.
The exfoliation is very, very gentle so these would be suitable for even sensitive skin IMO - if you're after a tough scrub, these are not for you! I love the fact that you can experiment with different mixing methods and I look forward to trying out some of the other options.
Kaia Naturals Bamboo Tapioca Beads* are naturally paraben free and gluten free, and are also cruelty free and suitable for Vegans. Full size retails for $30 (travel size vial shown above) and is available from kaianaturals.com
Have you ever tried a product like this before?
I love the idea of these beads, I think it's a great option to tailor make a skincare plan for your exact skin needs xx

Yay! I have a sample size from the face wipes I won from Nuciya but there was nothing with them so I had no idea what to do with them until now! I will try mine with rosehip oil and almond oil I think :) x
