When Elle Macpherson (aka 'The Body') turned 50 earlier this year, everyone wanted to know what her secret to her ever youthful looks were.  Being the savvy business woman that she is, she opened up and launched The Super Elixir, the creme de la creme of green wholefood supplements.

The Super Elixir is a wholefood powder supplement that contains a balanced blend of 45 key ingredients including biovailable alkalising super greens, Chinese herbs, digestive enzymes and members of the maitake mushroom family.  All of the ingredients are derived from organic wholefoods and have been treated specifically without heat to allow the nutrients to remain bio-live so that it's absorbed easier into the body.  It works on the health concept of 'alkanising' the body from the inside to fight and reduce inflammation which can help with fatigue, stress, premature aging, obesity, digestive problems, aches and pains etc.  It's been created with Dr Simone Laubscher and aims to restore wellness and vitality to the body and mind.

I've been lucky enough to test out a Travel Set of The Super Elixir over the past 7 days.  I've tried a lot of supplements and vitamins in the past, some of which have worked for me, others which haven't, so I was eager to see if I would feel any of the benefits within a week of taking it every day.  Dr Simone states that you only need to take 10g per day because it's super concentrated so you don't need to take anything else and it contains no fillers or preservatives.

When I opened the sachet, it looked like I imagined it would; a fine green powder with a slightly herbal yet sweet plant scent to it.  You can mix The Super Elixir into water, coconut water, almond milk, juice, anything you fancy really, just don't heat it as this can destroy the bio-live nutrients.  I've been mainly using this mixed with Go Coco coconut water and as you can see above, it resembles a trendy green drink that tastes a lot better than it looks!  It's naturally sweetened, so there's no bitterness like you may expect, and it's actually a really nice refreshing drink to have in the morning.  It works well with smoothies too as there is a lot of powder to blend.

Does it work?
I think it's always hard to judge something like this after only taking it for 7 days but I can honestly say I have felt like I've had a little more energy than usual in the mornings.  Not a huge amount, but certainly a noticeable mini boost that's been more than welcome!  I haven't yet decided whether I'll be purchasing another travel pack or not though as it is undoubtedly expensive, but I'll be sure to update this post if I do so keep your eyes peeled.

The Super Elixir by WelleCo* is available in a 7 day Travel Set pack from welleco.com where you can also find the full size luxury caddies and refill packs.  You can also purchase The Super Elixir from Selfridges.  The Super Elixir is suitable for Vegans and contains no dairy or gluten.

Have you tried anything like this before?
