If you're about to escape the rain and grey skies of the UK and embark on a late summer holiday (you lucky, lucky thing!), be sure to grab these travel essentials from natural brand Alfresco before you go.

I never would have thought that a beauty brand could make luxury products that repel bugs from biting you, but English brand Alfresco have somehow managed to do it.  Their unique Anti Bug Bite range does exactly what it says on the bottle, and I've been testing two of their bestselling products for the past couple of weeks.

Acqua D'Alfresco Insect Repellant Fine Fragrance Spray* (50ml, £30, link)
Usually when I think of insect repellant sprays, images of clinical looking products that smell like Dettol spring to mind.  When I opened up Acqua D'Alfresco and held a high end looking glass bottle in my hands, I knew this was going to be different.  Acqua D'Alfresco is an exquisite blend of botanical extracts that are proven to repel biting insects.  It's described as a 'spicy floriental' scent which sums it up perfectly as there are oils of Patchouli, Geranium, Orange and Cinnamon in the formula, all of which combine to create a sultry, heady fragrance that's every bit as desirable as a mainstream high end perfume.  I spritzed it liberally as directed and not only smelt good (to the point where I had compliments from friends asking what I was wearing), but I didn't get a single bug bite during a recent camping trip.  Amazing!

Alfresco Anti Bug Bite Moisturizer* (200ml, £25, link)
This luxurious body moisturizer shares the same unique fine fragrance blend as the spray above, and the active botanical extracts such as Cinnamon, Patchouli and Cedarwood (plus 20 essential oils) naturally repel biting insects.  I slathered this on throughout the day and again, didn't receive a single bug bite.  My skin was left feeling wonderfully soft and hydrated too.

I'm so impressed with both of these and whilst they are expensive, I'd say they're well worth the splurge if like me, you usually get eaten alive when you're out and about!

The full range of Alfresco Anti Bug Bite products are available direct from alfrescoshop.com, where you can also learn more about this fascinating brand's history including being used on all recent James Bond filmsets.

Have you tried anything from Alfresco?
