Although I don't have any children myself, I know plenty of people who do, so I thought this would be an interesting post for them!
Snails ('Safe Nails', see what they did there?) is the first European brand of nail polish that is water soluble, non toxic and paraben free, making them a fun and safe product for children to use. It's difficult enough trying to find 'natural' nail polishes for adults, let alone kids, so I was impressed to come across such a company whose whole ethos is based around child-friendly nail products.
The Snails Nail Polishes come in Italian glass bottles and are complete with a cute bow and equally cute snail illustration. Being a big kid myself, I was kindly sent two to have a play with; Purple Comet, a medium creme purple and Lollipop, a bright coral pink.
The formula of these are very similar to traditional nail polishes, in fact they don't feel noticeably different and perform just as well. The first thing you'll notice is the scent - gone is that nasty, chemical smell that induces headaches, and instead you have a very subtle sweet-meets-soap scent. To use the nail polishes, apply them as you normally would and then when it's time to take it off, you simply rinse, scrubbing ever so slightly under warm water, no nail polish remover necessary.
As these are water soluble, they also won't stain and are easily removed with simple soap and water from carpets, walls and anywhere else that tiny hands may stray. A genius product for anyone who has curious kids who want to try out mums nail polish, now they can have their own!
