The Black Eyeliner Stash

Friday, 7 March 2014

Black eyeliner has been a staple of mine for as long as I can remember.  Whether I want a sexy cat eye flick, a thicker, more grungey/smokey line, or a subtle touch of definition for everyday, black eyeliner is where it's at.

I've tried out a lot of eyeliners since I started playing with makeup and they vary dramatically in terms of quality, pigmentation, wear time and of course, price.  So this is my current tried and tested stash which are all eyeliners that I wholly recommend.
Daniel Sandler Long Lasting Waterproof Eyeliner* (£9.24, link)
Doing what it says on the label, these soft and creamy eyeliners from Daniel Sandler are seriously long lasting and smudgeproof.  Pigmentation is beautifully rich and it doesn't drag at all when you apply it.  I've worn it in a heavy downpour of rain and it hasn't budged, so they're definitely worth looking into.

B. Precise Gel Eyeliner* (£6.99, link)
If you prefer your gel liners to come in a traditional pot form, then this offering from B. is one to check out.  The gel formula is smooth and creamy, it lasts for a good 12 hours without any smudging and is also cruelty free and suitable for vegans.

Avon SuperShock Gel Eyeliner Pencil (£6, link)
If however you prefer pencils but still want a solid gel formula, then go for this one.  These have been much hyped on the blogosphere and Youtube, and I absolutely love everything about them.  It's soft, super pigmented and you can use on the waterline, plus it's really long lasting.

Barry M Intense Black Eyeliner Pen (discontinued)
Sadly, I believe this has been discontinued, but I managed to pick one up on Amazon after I saw Rosie (The Londoner) recommend it.  Will be looking at trying out some of the new Barry M eyeliners to see how they compare in the near future.

Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl Waterproof Eyeliner (£5, link)
Quite possibly the best eyeliner you'll ever find for a fiver, this bad boy from Soap & Glory blows lots of liners quadruple its price out of the park.  The pigmentation is stunning, it's soft and easy to use, and is most definitely waterproof.  A HG liner if I ever saw one.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner (£12, link)
As you might have guessed from viewing my stash above, I'm not the biggest fan of liquid liners, but the one that I do love the most is Eyeko's cult Skinny Liquid Liner.  I have the mini version and I just love the fine pointed nib for creating cat eyed flicks with.  Only downside with this is that it does have a tendency to dry up quickly, so only purchase it if you're going to use it often.

Have you tried any of these?
What are your favourite black eyeliners?

  3. I love the eyeko liners. My other favorite black eyeliners are the Sumita Beauty Suman contrast eye pencil and the Model Co eye pencil. Both are very black and last all day.

  5. I really really want to try the Eyeko Liner, or/and the Pixi liner which is very similar. I saw someone review the Barry M liner which is very similar too - and only £4 so I'd also like to try that as they're usually so much easier to apply aren't they?! xx

    1. I've tried the Pixi one and found that it dried up quicker than the Eyeko (though both are prone to drying out quickly!) when I had it. It's a lovely liner though! xx

  6. OOo....the Daniel Sandler, Avon and Soap & Glory are ones that I can get! I've given up on black eyeliners for my waterline for a while since I tear up so much and whatever I use comes off quite easily! Thanks for the recommendations! I'll totally be looking into these suggestions!

    1. I've used those three on my waterline and have had great results. I'd say if you do have particularly watery eyes, you'll probably have to reapply after a few hours, but I found that they definitely lasted longer than other brands I've tried :)
