Review & Swatches: Lily Lolo Natural Lip Gloss in English Rose & Mineral Blush in Ooh La La

Wednesday, 5 March 2014

Fans of mineral makeup will no doubt have recently seen Lily Lolo's newly re-designed packaging.  The British brand have really stepped up their game with a sleek and sophisticated updated look which correlates beautifully with their high performance products.

To celebrate their new design launch, I was kindly sent two products to have a play with.  Given how much I love Lily Lolo's Shimmer Stripes in Honey Glow which is one of my favourite highlighters (ever!), I was beyond excited to try these two out.
Lily Lolo Natural Lip Gloss in English Rose* (4ml, £7.99, link)
This lip gloss ticks a lot of boxes.  Firstly, it's non-sticky, which is always a winner in my books.  Secondly, it has a gorgeous glossy shine to it, and thirdly, it feels oh-so moisturising on the lips thanks to the Vitamin E and Organic Jojoba Oil in the vegan friendly formula.  I have the shade English Rose which is a sheer dusky pink with zero shimmer (just lots of shine), so it's great for an everyday, more 'grown up' look.  The colour is sheer, so by its very nature there's not a lot of pigmentation going on, but it's a lip gloss after all, and not a lipstick.  Same goes for the longevity, you're going to need to reapply this often but that's what I usually expect with most lip glosses.  There's also a subtle chocolately flavour to it which is really nice.

Lily Lolo Mineral Blush in Ooh La La* (3g, £7.99, link)
Lily Lolo are most well known for their mineral foundations, but I think these blushes could become very popular very quickly.  Loose mineral formulas can be a bit messy to apply, so I was pleased to see a handy little inbuilt sifter in the pot which certainly helps.  Ooh La La is described as a matte pink, but it does have a tiny amount of fine gold shimmer in it.  This shade is beautiful, it gives such a lovely natural looking flush that makes you look much more awake and glowy.  It's very pigmented and looks like a scary hot pink in the pot, but once you apply the right amount (and you only need a tiny bit!), it blends like a dream (as you can see in the swatch below) and becomes much more wearable.  I'm literally obsessed with this blush and have been wearing it constantly!  Lily Lolo have a great shade range for these, so I'm definitely eyeing up some more of these babies!

  1. Both shades are just absolutely beautiful! so natural and so polished, Im a huge fan of shades like that on the lips and the cheeks! More than half of my blushes are those types of rosey toned shades, I've tried a loose powder blush before but I just find it too difficult to apply as I'm so clumsy! They are both great looking products!

  9. They really are lovely colours. I use the primer and have a couple of colour duos. I haven't tried any of the loose powers as I think I'm just too messy to begin with! x
