I've mentioned a couple of products from B. before which I've loved (I featured one of their new Lip & Cheek Colours in my January Favourites), and I've recently been trying out two more from their makeup range; the B. Sculpted Contour Kit and B. Precise Gel Eyeliner.
B. Sculpted Contour Kit in Light* (5.9g & 4.4g, £11.99, link)
There's not a day that goes by where I don't see someone mention Kim Kardashian and contouring in the same sentence. So it's really no surprise that the beauty industry has been so quick off the mark to release an array of contouring products into the highstreet stores. B.'s Sculpted Contour Kit comes in a 2-in-1 compact and features a matte contour powder on the left side and a cream highlighter on the right. The contour powder is finely milled, silky soft and super easy to work with when it comes to blending. Due to its small compartment size, I found a small, angled blusher brush was the best tool to use, though you could just about use the Real Techniques Contour Brush at a push. I really like this and feel that it would be virtually foolproof for a beginner to use (there are handy instructions on the back to help too).
The cream highlighter on the other hand, wasn't what I expecting. It's got quite a thick and almost tacky/sticky texture which made it difficult to blend out. I did appreciate that it wasn't super shimmery (it's much more subtle), but sadly it made my skin look more greasy than glowy/highlighted. Wear time for the highlighter was very disappointing, around an hour or two max, whilst the contour powder fared much better at around 5-6 hours.

The Sculpted Contour Kit is available in three shades, Light (shown), Medium and Dark. The Light shade is unfortunately still too light for my winter complexion right now (light olive), so I imagine that the Medium would be much better suited for me. That said, because I don't rate the highlighter at all, I won't be purchasing another kit. I will be looking into their Bronzers though!
B. Precise Gel Eyeliner in Black* (3g, £6.99, link)
I always find gel eyeliners a lot easier to work with than their liquid counterparts, and B's offering certainly confirms that. Their Precise Gel Eyeliner comes in a standard pot with a free mini brush. I didn't find the brush that great (it's a little bulky for those coveted feline flicks, so just use your own tapered/finepoint brush instead) but the eyeliner itself is pretty damn good. The gel formula applies smoothly, and once it's dry, it's virtually smudgeproof. I've worn this for a good 12 hours and only started to experience a tiny amount of smudging at the very end of that time. It's not the blackest black in terms of pigmentation (see below), but you can certainly layer with it, and I have no qualms using it for a normal everyday look. For the price and longevity, it's well worth checking out.

what a lovely kit xx
ReplyDelete:) xx
DeleteThe liner sounds lovely and the powder in the contour kit actually looks light enough for my pale skin, such a shame about the highlighter! xx
ReplyDeleteI know, that contour kit would be amazing if the highlighter was better! xx
DeleteThe contour kit looked like it had such promise :( I've only tried a nail polish from the range but I would be interested in trying more items x
ReplyDeleteSo disappointed by the highlighter, the contour powder is so good as well! Do you like their nail polishes? I'd recommend their Lip & Cheek Crayons and their Lipglosses x
DeleteI adore the B. Rich Lipsticks, Marilyn and Carmen being my favourites. They are highly pigmented, creamy, hydrating, and have great staying power; they also have the cutest packaging. I love that they are suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians - beautiful ethics and beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteThanks Niksi, their lipsticks are next on my list to try out! I love their Lip & Cheek Crayons and Lipglosses and agree that their ethics are fab :)
DeleteHaven't tried anything from this brand before, but the contour shade really looks great. It's a shame that the highlight was a let down.

Yeah, the contour powder is fab!
DeleteThe pigmentation of the gel eyeliner looks fantastic. Not keen on bulky eyeliner brushes though - I don't really use the RT one as I prefer to start with a really thin line and then build it up gradually xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed with the gel eyeliner! I agree, bulky eyeliner brushes just don't do anything for me xx
DeleteI've started seeing more about this brand and their products sound lovely! Hope to try some of their products soon!

Their Lip & Cheek Crayons and Lipglosses are amazing! xx
DeleteLovely stuff! I totally like the gel, it doesn't look like the blackest black but it seems super matte which is a great quality. The sculpting quad I think would probably make a better bronzer than contour, it is very light! Oh and thank you very much, I received your giveaway products and lovely postcard the other weeks!
ReplyDeleteThe eyeliner gel is fab stuff, I always prefer matte formulas for liners too.
DeleteSo happy to hear you got your prize safely! :)
I really like the look of this gel liner, I think i would prob just use my own brush but its a great kit from B. becki from www.lifelooksperfect.com xx
ReplyDeleteYeah I use my own brush and it works a treat! x
DeleteI like the idea of the affordable contouring kit, but that highlighter looks pretty ghastly :/ I've only ever tried one product from B. and sadly wasn't impressed so I haven't tried anything else. I might have to give their lip colours a try :) xx
ReplyDeleteI was so disappointed because the contour side is great! Their lip products are lovely xx
