Skincare Review: Trilogy Cream Cleanser, Gentle Facial Exfoliant and Very Gentle Moisturising Cream

Friday, 13 December 2013

Have you ever wanted to try out something from Trilogy's skincare range, but didn't know where to start?  I've been testing out three of their products for the past month which would be suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, to bring you an introduction to what Trilogy has to offer.

Trilogy are renowned for their world-famous, award winning Rosehip Oil and they use this very special, skin-loving ingredient in many of their products.  Their philosophy is simple: they believe that natural skincare works, and have invested decades of research into finding out what works and what doesn't.  With this in mind, I was eager to try them out!
Trilogy Cream Cleanser* (100ml, £16.50, link)
Suitable for all skin types, this is a gentle, creamy cleanser that removes dirt and impurities, as well as some make-up.  Featuring Rosehip, Primrose, Jojoba and Carrot Oils, it helps to maintain healthy skin, whilst being soothing and nourishing at the same time.  It has a light, floral-meets-herbal type of scent and the cream is a little thinner than what I've usually come to expect from a general cream cleanser, but this certainly doesn't hinder it's cleansing abilities.  To use, I just squeeze a small amount into my palms and then massage it into damp skin, removing with a warm flannel or muslin cloth.  It leaves my skin soft, properly cleansed, refreshed and not tight, but not overly moisturised or greasy either.  I wouldn't particularly recommend it for removing make-up, as it struggled with my medium coverage liquid foundation and waterproof mascara, but it removes light BB creams and mineral make-up no problem so it depends what you personally wear.  I prefer using it as the final step in a double cleanse for the evenings as it removes those last traces perfectly and doesn't irritate my eyes, though I have used it on those cold winter mornings as well, to give my skin some more TLC.
Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant* (75ml, £21.50, link)
If you have sensitive skin, you may avoid most exfoliators for fear of them being too harsh, but this one is really gentle (and I mean gentle!).  It has the tiniest jojoba microspheres which work to buff and polish the skin, removing dead skin cells with zero irritation or redness.  I've been using it once a week and my face is looking much brighter and finally looks to be winning the war against dull winter skin.  This exfoliator has key ingredients such as Active Honey Enzymes, Camelia, Rosehip and Jojoba Oils and is one that I'd happily recommend for all skin types.  The scent is very 'natural', but if you're used to typically green brands it won't come as a surprise.
Trilogy Very Gentle Moisturising Cream* (50ml, £24.50, link)
As a general rule, I always seem to automatically go for moisturisers for combination skintypes, of which I have.  However, a friend of mine recommended that I try a sensitive one instead to see if it would help to calm down my sometimes problematic & blemish prone skin.  In theory, it makes sense and I do often get a lot of redness, especially around my nose.  This moisturiser makes redness and irritation disappear like magic!  I was already impressed by the cool squeezy tube packaging with the nifty metal pump, but once I slathered it onto my face, it was like my skin was breathing a long sigh of relief.  Since using it, I've noticed that my skin looks and feels less dehydrated, is super smooth to the touch and feels slightly more tighter and refined.  There are lots of nourishing ingredients such as Chamomile, Calendula, Olive and Evening Primose Oil, as well as Hyaluronic Acid to keep that moisture locked deep into the skin's layers.  It absorbs quickly and is fragrance and essential oil free too.  Definitely one to try out this winter if you're in the market for a new moisturiser.

All Trilogy products are NATRUE certified meaning that they contain only natural and organic non-GMO ingredients (so free from silicones, mineral oil etc), do no animal testing and create products that are made supporting ethical trade and environmental practices.  Products featured above are available via trilogyproducts.com and naturisimo.com (who currently have 20% off!).

Have you tried / do you use anything from Trilogy?

  5. I'm a bit faithful to Trilogy, they were the first natural brand I ever tried and I've just always loved them. Their cleanser and exfoliator are fab! I've not tried the gentle moisturiser but I love the normal 'vital moisturising cream'. It's so lovely!!

  7. Love the sound of the cream cleanser! Sometimes I find that a more general (but natural) moisturiser works better on my combo skin, so I'm steering away from combo moisturisers for now! xx

    1. Same here - I think combo moisturisers work better for me in the summer months, but at the moment 'all skin types' and senstive ones are the best! xx

  8. I've tried a few Trilogy products and I'm a bit on the fence about them. I'm a little undecided whether my skin actually reacts to and enjoys more "natural" products, lol! But I do really like the Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream which I use with my Olay face brush (cheap alternative to the Clarisonic, lol).

    1. I think it's because a lot of natural brands use high percentages of essential oils and people can react to them. I don't tend to have any problems with it myself but I do appreciate when a brand has a special sensitive range just to be sure x

    1. They have indeed! I remember reading a review of the Very Gentle Moisturising Cream ages ago which pictured it in a standard pump packaging, rather than this new tube with pump x
