Review & Swatches: B. at Superdrug - Rich Colour Lip Gloss in Morello, Poppy & Bambi, Vibrant Eye Shimmers in Rockstar & Lizzie and Lenghtening, Defining & Volumising Mascara

Wednesday, 11 December 2013

Every now and then, I spot a new make-up brand in a highstreet/drugstore shop that I can't believe I haven't come across before.  One such instance of this revelation was when I discovered the B. range in Superdrug recently.  The whole line is cruelty-free BUAV approved, and suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

B. Brilliant Rich Colour Lip Gloss in Morello, Poppy and Bambi* (£6.99 each, link)

As a general rule, I often bypass lip glosses and head straight to swatching lipsticks when I discover a new brand, but I couldn't pass these up.  The vivid colours really caught my eye!  The B. Brilliant Rich Colour Lip Glosses are essentially non-sticky liquid lipsticks with plenty of shine thrown in.  Let's see them in action!

As you can see, Bambi is an everyday, easy to wear, neutral pink (a smidge more pink IRL), Poppy is a classic stand-out, scream it from the rooftops bright red, and Morello is a daring, berry plum with blue and pink undertones.  Coverage wise, Bambi and Poppy are both opaque in just one coat, whilst Morello would benefit from two coats (one coat shown above).  All three are high-shine and glossy, and feature the same perfumed sort of scent (doesn't really translate to a flavour though thankfully!  Think of brands typically like Chanel and Lancome and you'll know what I mean).  Wear time for these was good too, you're looking at around 2-3 hours without eating/drinking and they fade evenly, leaving a pretty, subtle stain.
 B. All Lengthening, Defining and Volumising Mascara* (8ml, £9.99, link)

Promising to be a 'does everything' mascara, this B. All offering comes in both standard and waterproof.  It features 'tube technology', which carefully coats each lash and contains a caring Lash Active formula that conditions the lashes whilst you wearing it.  Pigmentation is a strong black and the formula dries rather quickly, but doesn't feel 'crunchy' on the lashes like some others do.  It didn't smudge or flake all day which is always good news!  I also love the lengthening effect that this has, but was left a little disappointed by the defining and volumising claims.  That said, it's one I'd pick up for everyday wear, though I do think it's on the expensive side compared to other highstreet/drugstore mascaras.
B. Stunning Vibrant Eye Shimmer in Rockstar (left) and Lizzie (right)* (£6.99 each, link)

Cream eyeshadows have really become a popular staple in everyone's make-up bags this year, so I was excited to see what these would be like.  Verdict?  Love them!  The Vibrant Eye Shimmers are soft, easy to work with and to blend, long-wearing, and don't crease on me.  As the name suggests, they all have shimmer in them, but vary from shade to shade e.g Lizzie has a lot less shimmer than Rockstar.  I found them very versatile in that they look great with just one sweep over the lids for a fuss-free look for everyday, or you can really layer them on for a good old smokey eye and even use the darker shades as a metallic eyeliner.  My two favourites are Lizzie, a great nude/neutral that works perfectly as a base or for when you want a minimal make-up look, and Rockstar which is a stunning metallic mushroom/taupe shade with fine silver shimmer running through it - looks amazing as a smokey eye and as an eyeliner!

The B. collection of make-up and skincare is available exclusively at Superdrug stores and online at superdrug.com.  The range is cruelty free (BUAV approved), suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and is paraben free.  Currently in the nationwide 3 for 2 offer!

Have you tried anything from the B. range?

  4. The Poppy lip gloss is super pretty. But wow, your eyelashes are so long and gorgeous! Do you think it was mostly the mascara or are your lashes naturally long?

    1. Thanks Sierra! I wouldn't say they're naturally long really but they're not super short either. I think the mascara definitely helps with the lengthening though as you can see! x

  10. Omg, these products look so good all round! I wish singapore had boots, I wish we had all those british high street make up brands! I would totally covet bambi and that cream shadow in Rockstart! They look so wearable and I'd definitely pair that shadow with thick lashes and a winged liner!
