Studio London Nail It Nail Polish & Effects Collection* (£10, link)

Looking for a nail polish gift set that's around the £10 mark, but you don't want to sacrifice the quality?  Look no further, this complete nail wardrobe from Studio London (from Superdrug), ticks all the right boxes and won't break the bank.

The Studio London Nail It Nail Polish & Effects Collection comprises of a wardrobe of 8 nail polishes with shades ranging from on trend neutrals to hot pink, red, black glitter etc.  Each bottle is 6.2ml which is a decent size and bigger than most 'mini' sets which usually only range from 4-5ml.  Alongside the nail polishes, you also get 2 pots of glitter so you can experiment with different party themed nail art looks.  This set and the others in the Studio London range have been produced exclusively for Superdrug in collaboration with pro MUA, Joanna Bernacka.  On the back of the box are some handy tips for applying nail polish and the feel of the set feels a lot more 'pro' because of this.

So let's take a closer look at those polishes, here are the swatches!

The nail polishes don't have individual names so from L-R (second photo above).  All swatches above shown with two coats, except the last 2 which have three coats each.

Black with large hexogram and fine glitter
Quite sheer and one I'd recommend applying over a plain black shade to benefit from the full effect.

Red
Gorgeous, plain bright, glossy red  You could almost get away with just one coat of this.

Blackened Blue with fine silver and blue shimmer
I was pleasantly surprised to see a shade like this, these are the colours I love the most in A/W and it's absolutely stunning on the nails.

Hot Pink
Good solid glossy hot pink.  Like the Red, it nearly applies completely opaque in one coat.

Clear Glitter
Super fine holographic-esque glitter, great for top coats.

Light Taupe/Mushroom Neutral
This is similar to Nails Inc Porchester Square but with more of a light brown undertone to it, very chic.

Pale Baby Pink
Has a touch of fine pink shimmer to it, applies a little streaky as these colours are prone to doing, so would benefit from three coats.

Pale Plain Nude
Like the Baby Pink, it's on the streaky side and was the most difficult to work with.  Needs at least three coats, maybe four as it's very sheer.

The glitter comes in two pots: one of chunky metallic silver/pink and the other of fine strips of metallic gold.

Overall, the nail polishes are very good quality and I feel that they're virtually on a par with most that you'd find from your typical drugstore/highstreet brand.  As mentioned above, the only ones I experienced any issues with were the two pale shades, but I always tend to find these colours to be apt to streakiness (I'm looking at your Essie!).  The other shades however are really impressive for such a budget friendly set and I'm sure any nail art fan would be more than happy to open this up on Christmas day!

Available exclusively from Superdrug, instore and online.  The Studio London range (as well as all Superdrug own brands) is cruelty-free and BUAV approved.

    1. I think so! I usually find most budget nail sets a bit tacky or with polishes that have gloopy formulas, but these were really good x

  5. Ooh what a fab little find! £10 is a great price for all these polishes! I'm not a massive fan of the glitter, but the polishes make the set worth the price alone doesn't it?! xx
