5 Mini Reviews: Redken, Antipodes, L'Occitane, Eve Of St Agnes & L'Oreal

Tuesday, 22 October 2013

I have seriously been slacking on the samples front!  My Wonder Woman tin is full to bursting again so it's time to get it back under control.  To kick things off, I've managed to finish these five off recently which have been stashed away in my travel bag.  Here are my thoughts on them.

(1)  Redken Align 12 Protective Straightening Lotion
I usually find that a lot of straightening lotions can wear down hair or make it look greasy, but this one didn't at all.  It was light, felt silky and did a great job of protecting my hair when I used it with straighteners as well as helping to eliminate frizz and flyaways.

(2)  Antipodes Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream
Everyone raves about Antipodes and I have to say that I loved trying out this sample.  It's not your typical 'light' moisturiser in the sense that the formula is quite thick, but when you apply it doesn't feel heavy or greasy in the slightest.  It has a lovely sweet scent which is sort of like vanilla meets almond, and it made my skin feel properly hydrated and cared for.

(3)  L'Occitane Verbena Shower Gel
Oh my days, this smells incredible!  I'm a sucker for uplifting scents, and this just struck a cord with me.  It's really fresh and smells like lemons and oranges - I want a huge bottle right now!

(4)  Eve Of St Agnes Rose & Mango Butter Body Balm*
A great product for anyone with dry skin, this balm/butter hybrid is super thick and smells of roses.  It takes a little while to sink into the skin, but all that natural moisturising goodness from the shea butter, calendula and mango butter is well worth the extra time it takes.

(5)  L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil
I didn't get on with this hair oil at all.  I used a tiny amount before blow drying and it made my hair get very knotty like it was sticking together, not good!  I also felt like it was just coating my hair and I had shampoo three times to get rid of all of the new build up from it.  Not for me!
Have you tried any of these?

  1. I haven't tried any of those but I really fancy trying out the Antipodes, it's a brand I still haven't got round to testing out.

  2. I just tried a L'Oreal Mythic Oil and it wasn't that great either. Something's not quite right about their hair oils I think!
