I'm not the most confident when it comes to baring a lot of flesh in summer, and prefer wearing things like maxi dresses to Daisy Duke style shorts. However, I did pick up some shorter length skirts in the sales, which led me into trying out these two products. Combined, they are the winning formula for prepping your legs for summer.
Laidbare Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow! Hair Minimising Moisuriser* (125ml, £6.99, link)
There are a million and one products which promise to slow down body hair growth, but most of them either simply don't work, or just block your body's pores instead, leading to ingrown hairs everywhere. Not pretty. With Laidbare's offering being based on a natural formula, I was dubious about whether it would do anything, but again Mother Nature has surprised me. It uses a synergistic botanical complex of Liquorice Extract, Caffeine, and Horse Chestnut Seed Extract, which in combination slows down hair growth and re-growth by maintaining the hair cells in their growth stage, with an inhibiting factor. These ingredients also act as an anti-inflammatory to help the skin protect itself from the rigours of hair removal.
The product comes out as a runny gel, but absorbs quickly into the skin and has a lovely citrus scent. It's best to apply it after shaving & waxing, and I didn't notice any irritation at all, it just felt soothing and hydrating. After using it for two weeks each time after shaving, I began to see that my hair re-growth was definitely starting to slow down, with the hairs feeling softer and lighter. I can now go for nearly 3 days without needing to shave my legs!
Laidbare Tantastic* (125ml, £6, link)
Tantastic is a gradual self-tanner-meets-moisturiser which you can use on your face and body. Now, I must admit that I'm somewhat addicted to proper fake tan (my HG being He-Shi Express Liquid Tan), but I always opt for a gradual self tanner for my face to achieve a 'just sunkissed' finish. Tantastic gives a very natural, healthy looking glow which you can build up to a light/medium colour. I wouldn't recommend it for medium skintones because I don't think it would show up, but those who are paler will no doubt love it. One word of warning though - it does have a strong scent (sort of like traditional fake tan but slightly better) which I'm not keen on, so I tend to apply it a few hours before I'm going to take a shower, letting it fully absorb beforehand. The results last for around 2-3 days before I need to reapply it, so it's perfect for those weekend getaways.
Do you use a summer legs combo like this?
