I have a quick confession to make; I have a serious addiction for stocking up on shower gels and body washes. I must have a million in my bathroom, and more stashed away in the bedroom (OK, that's an exaggeration, but you get the picture!). There's just something that I find oddly exciting about getting into the shower with a brand new body wash, and I've recently been enjoying using these three from REN, Organic Surge and Laidbare.
REN Moroccan Rose Otto Body Wash* (200ml, £17, link)
REN are one of those brands that can really do no wrong in my book, and I absolutely love this luxury body wash from their Moroccan Rose Otto range. This is a very modern and delicate rose scent, that has some sweet notes which remind me a little of Turkish Delight, but isn't sweet enough to be cloying. The balance is just right. It produces a decent lather for a natural product, and I can certainly see why it's won InStyle Magazine's Best Body Wash award for 11 years running! A pure, modern day beauty classic in a bottle.
Organic Surge Citrus Mint Shower Gel* (250ml, £4.07, link)
For early mornings, I always try to use something that will help me to wake up, and this Citrus Mint shower gel from Organic Surge works a treat. It has Mint, Lemon and Orange Essential Oils to really revitalise the senses and help you to feel more alert and ready to start the day. The scent is more mint than citrus and smells like After Eights - yummy and purifying at the same time!
Laidbare Clean As A Whistle* (250ml, £7.49, link)
I was very excited to try out the newly launched Clean As A Whistle Body Wash, from Laidbare. If you've been following my blog for a while, you'll know that I adore their Butter Me Up Shea Body Butter and this shares that gorgeous Unique Tranquil Flower Fragrance which is 100% natural. If you're a fan of decadent floral scents, you'll love this and I find it quite relaxing too.
All of the above shower gels & body washes are SLS-free which means that they don't use the chemical Sodium Lauryl Sulfate to make their products 'bubble up'. All three of these still lather up to some effect, but you don't get the masses of white foam that mainstream shower gels give off. Whilst I haven't completed stopped using products with SLS in them, I have considerably reduced their usage in the last year or so because I found that some were aggravating my dry skin. For more info on SLS, there's a great article about it here.
P.S: If you're interested in SLS-free shower gels, I'd also recommend trying ones from Bodhi, Lavera, balance Me, Neom and Cowshed.
Do you use SLS-free shower gels & body washes?
Have you tried any of these brands?

These sound great! I'm a complete shower gel hoarder too. Earlier this week, I realized I'd started my last unopened bottle, so I promptly went and ordered 3 more to try! Haha :) As things go, I figure it could be worse, since I do actually work through them all eventually.
ReplyDeleteHaha you sound like me! It's not too bad of an addiction to have really because shower gel is one of those things I use on a daily basis (well, that's how I justify it anyway!) x
DeleteI'd love to go SLS free but I love bubbles too much!

The Organic Surge one is quite bubbly! :)
DeleteI love the REN Rose Otto body wash, it's one of my favourites. Haven't tried the other 2 but love the sound of the minty one. I mainly use SLS free shower gels but sometimes I make an exception, usually if I love the scent. haha

Same here, I can't resist nice scents! x
DeleteI love the REN shower gel, I haven't tried the Laidbare so I will definitely look at picking that one up :) x
ReplyDeleteI think you'd love the Laidbare one :) x
DeleteI've never tried anything from REN :( I really want to though, it's always got such glowing reviews xx

They are a lovely brand! xx
DeleteI love the whole REN Moroccan Rose Otto range. Must try the Laidbare one soon x
ReplyDeleteIt's SO nice :) x
DeleteI like the Organic Surge washes although they do still contain a sulphate (Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate). I'd be interested to trying the Laidbare one, like you I have a shower gel addiction and always have several on the go at once :)
ReplyDeleteThat'll be why it lathers up so well then - am I right in thinking that ALS is a more gentler sulfate than SLS? I don't seem to have any dry skin problems with ALS, but I know that any sulfate can be irritating by its very nature.
DeleteThe Laidbare one is so lovely, used it again this morning and the scent is to die for :)
I love starting a new bottle of shower gel, showers are like little daily pamper sessions! xx
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed! xx
