Of all the new make-up collections that have been released so far this year, Laura Mericer's Folklore Collection for Summer 2013 has been one of the most popular. I've seen it mentioned across the blogosphere countless times, and for good reason. The collection is a beautiful mix of bohemian and sheer luxe, plus there are lots of metallic golds and bronzes which I love. I have two pieces from the collection to share with you all today.
Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Sun Glow* (2.5g, £18.50, link)
As much as I like to play around with eyeshadow combinations, for everyday I just reach for a simple, fuss-free, one colour all over the lid. Golds seem to suit my light olive complexion and they're perfect for adding a touch of warmth and light to the eye area to brighten it up. This Illuminating Eye Colour ticks all of those boxes and more with its buttery soft formula. Sun Glow is a light metallic gold shade which you can apply as either a straightforward wash of colour for day, or you can build it up to be much more intense for an evening/night look. The colour transfer and pigmentation is quite light, so for the latter evening look, it's best to apply it with a dampened brush and over a good eye primer to really make it 'pop'. On a side note, the imprint is absolutely gorgeous, and I really like the sturdy, compact packaging.
Laura Mercier Lip Crayon in Mayan Sun* (2.7g, £16.50, link)
Every make-up brand has some sort of lip crayon-esque offering these days, and I was more than surprised by how good these Limited Edition ones are by Laura Mercier. I have the shade Mayan Sun which is the on-trend shade for summer. It looks like a standard orange-pink in the tube, but on my lips, it pulls much more into an incredibly flattering peachy-pink. The formula is very hydrating and glossy, with the coverage delivering anything from a sheer wash to a full, properly buildable lipstick look. It's also pretty long lasting too. I'm seriously in love with this and will be wearing it all summer long!
Onto the swatches!
Three swipes of Illuminating Eye Colour in Sun Glow on bare skin (this also shows how it would look when used wet too)
Three swipes of Lip Crayon in Mayan Skin on bare skin
Illuminating Eye Colour in Sun Glow, one layer (no primer) for everyday look
Lip Crayon in Mayan Sun, two coats for medium coverage
Have you tried anything from Laura Mercier's Folklore Collection?

Sunglow is a beauty! Yeah, every brand does seem to have a lip crayon range nowadays, though I like how the LM ones are more lipsticky than balmy/tinted x
DeleteBoth of these look gorgeous!! They really suit you too. x
ReplyDeleteThanks Alice! :) x
DeleteLook gorgeous on you! I found Folklore the most interesting of LM's summer 2013 releases, but the shades quite dupe-able.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda! I know what you mean, the shades are gorgeous but nothing completely unique - I'm sure there are lots of dupes out there! x
