NOTD: Monochrome Nail Trend S/S13 with Nails Inc - Black Taxi & Floral Street

When the press release for Nails Inc's S/S13 Monochrome Nail Trend arrived in my inbox last week, I immediately thought of my good friend Georgia.  I'm sure she won't mind me telling you all this, but she's a huge make-up fan and somewhat of a slave to all the trends that come around.  You'd never see her wearing a typically autumnal nail polish shade in Summer for example.  However, she can't stand the always recurring Spring pastels, so I'm sure she'll love this nail trend instead.


 For the nail look above I used two coats of Nails Inc's Floral Street* (no idea why it's called this, it's just a straight up white!) and then applied Nails Inc's Black Taxi* across in a diagonal block.  For a cleaner, straighter finish you could use a black nail art pen to draw a line across but I quite like the slightly haphazard finish.  Looks more abstract no?

Floral Street is a little tricky to use and definitely needs two coats to get a nice, even opaque, but most whites usually do.  Black Taxi however applies like a dream and is one of my favourite fuss-free black nail polishes.  Both give super glossy finishes without the need for an extra top/shine coat.

    I really like that it's different from the pastels or bright hues. I may try this with two other colours and see how it turns out. They look very polished :)

    This is gorgeous! I love dark/black polishes but think they look too harsh on me as I'm so pale!

      They can look a bit stark against pale skin, maybe try it with white like the monochrome? :)
