terre d'Oc BB Cream in 952 Rose des Sables* (30ml, £24.95)

With Spring and the promise of some warmer weather on the way, I've found myself starting to gravitate towards much lighter make-up bases already.  So when the new BB cream from terre d'Oc launched recently, I couldn't wait to try it out.

Packaged in a high-end weighty glass bottle with a pump dispenser, terre d'Oc's latest make-up offering promises to be a true multi-tasking BB cream.  The light formula aims to nourish, moisturise, conceal and brighten the skin, whilst leaving it looking even, smooth, flawless, natural and radiant.  Now those are some pretty big claims to make.

Let's break this all down:-

Nourishing - It definitely feels good on the skin and is packed full of natural, fairtrade and organic ingredients.  All terre d'Oc products are also free from parabens, petrochemicals, talc, mineral oil, carmine, artificial preservatives, colours and fragrances.

Moisturising - This BB Cream is suitable for all skin types and I agree that it is hydrating.  My cheeks and around my nose are particularly dry at the moment, and this helped to moisturise those areas very well.  Oily t-zones will have to be powdered down if you want a matte finish, but that's to be expected.

Concealing - The formula gives an all over light coverage, akin to a 'my skin but better' look, so it won't conceal everything.  Personally, I just used a separate concealer with this where it was needed.

Brightening - I found that it does give your skin a noticeable pick me up when you first apply it, but the brightening effect didn't last all day for me.

A few other things to mention:-

Scent & texture - It has a scent that I really can't describe, but it's nothing offensive.  The texture comes out very thick, so only a small amount is needed each time.  Once blended, it feels light and weightless on the skin.

Application - This BB cream looks best when applied with your fingers and not with a brush.  I first used it with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and it looked really streaky and was difficult to blend, so I wouldn't recommend that.  I'd also say it applies much more smoothly over a primer.

Longevity - As mentioned above, the brightening effect didn't last all day for me, and I found that the formula began to fade after 4 or 5 hours.  However with a primer underneath it lasted a good 8 hours.

Shade range -  There are currently just three shades to choose from, with Rose des Sables being suitable for fair to medium skintones.  It looks dark and slightly orangey at first, but soon adapts to your skintone when you blend it in.

Summary: Overall a good quality, natural BB cream which would be great to use when you want a light and fresh look.  Just remember that a little goes a long way with it and it's best to apply it over a primer.

  7. Never seen this brand and packaging of bb cream like this...traditional packaging is all tubes and plastic bottles with pumps so this packaging seems pretty cool. I love the shade, seems very skin like and not so fair or gray like a lot of bb creams. Glad to hear it's working for you.

    1. The shade surprised me too, it's more like a foundation/skin shade than a traditional BB shade, but it still has all the benefits of a proper BB cream :)
