If there's one beauty related product that I nearly always make myself, it's body scrubs. They're so easy to whip up with ingredients that you've probably already got in your kitchen. This one is perfect for anyone who loves very sweet stuff!
Light Brown Sugar is often used in baking recipes to enhance a toffee or caramel flavour. I decided to use this instead of the usual white sugar when I made up a body scrub at the weekend and it worked a treat. Do be warned though; only try this if you love sickly sweet scents!
To make up the body scrub, I just put a couple of large tablespoons of the light brown sugar in a bowl and added a tablespoon of olive oil. You then just mix it all up, adding more olive oil bit by bit until you get a consistency that you're happy with. So if you want a very scrubby scrub, use less oil and vice versa. Once you're happy with it, take it into the shower and use as you would any other body scrub, making sure to rinse thoroughly afterwards. The sugar is a fantastic exfoliator, whilst the olive oil leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.
Do you make your own body scrubs?

DeleteI should definitely try this. do you just make up enough for each time or can you make sone up & store it? X
ReplyDeleteI usually make a jar full and find that it keeps for around 4-6 weeks quite well. You just need to give it a good stir to mix everything up again when you use it that way :) x
DeleteThis sounds like it would smell so delicious! I like making stuff like scrubs and facemasks out of my own ingredients when I can, because you know exactly what;s in it that way, and that it doesn't have any hidden nasties! Not to mention it's a bit cheaper...
