New CID I-Flick Double Ended Liner* (£16.64, link)
I'm always interested to try out new eyeliners and perfect that much coveted cat-eyed / winged flick. Packaged in a slim and compact pen, New CID's I-Flick Double Ended Liner looked like a perfect eyeliner for me to experiment with. It features a liquid liner on one end and a retractable kohl liner on the other, so I happily gave it a go.
The liquid liner end at first delivers a smooth, fine link of greyish-black, but this can be built up easily so you can choose whether you want just a subtle line or a much more intense, thicker and blacker one. The formula is wet as expected, but it quickly dries. The shape of the tip is super easy to use, making it ideal for beginners to play with (or those who struggle with applying liquid liner like I do!). The only thing I didn't like about the liquid was that it didn't last long (2-3 hours max) so you'd need to re-apply it frequently. Setting it with a black eyeshadow and layering it over a good primer like UDPP helped to prolong its wear time considerably, but even then, it still had a tendency to start smudging and fading.
The kohl liner end is smooth, soft and creamy but comes out as more of a very dark brown than a true black, and you really have to layer it for it to show up black. Sadly, I thought the pigmentation of the kohl was pretty poor and like the liquid end, it just didn't last long on the eyes either before smudging and then disappearing.
For me personally, I like to use eyeliners that are very pigmented and last for more than a few hours, so I wouldn't recommend this, but if you're looking for a liquid eyeliner that you can experiment with and isn't scary to use (i.e doesn't come out in a jet black thick line the first time you use it!), then it might be more suitable for you.

I like my eyeliner the be really dark too. Pity this one doesn't last long before fading! I've only tried a few things from New CID, my fave is the highlight/blush duo.

I've heard good things about the highlight/blush duo, will have to check that out :) xx
DeleteIt's a shame this fades quickly, I like my liner to be really dark as well. x
ReplyDeleteYeah I was disappointed by it x
DeleteI really don't like eyeliners that fade! I'm having a bit of a problem with a L'Oreal one at the moment because of that. I've never tried anything from New CID, I think their products are slightly out of my price range x
ReplyDeleteMe either, it's such a pet hate for me. I've tried a couple of L'Oreal liners in the past and stopped buying them because I couldn't find one that lasted long enough for me. I think the Bourjois and Soap & Glory ones are the best on the highstreet xx
