Review: Liz Earle Signature Foundation in Nude 03

Liz Earle Signature Foundation in Nude 03 (25ml, £21, link)*

I know this sounds incredibly silly, but when this came through my letterbox a few weeks ago, I was a little scared to try out.  As much as I love Liz Earle's skincare and the rest of her make-up range (you can read my reviews of various products here), I did not get on with her Sheer Skin Tint at all, and was worried that the foundation would be too heavy for my oily/combination skin.  But I needn't have worried, because this is one of the best foundations I've tried all year.

Liz Earle's Signature Foundation comes packaged in a luxe, high-end weighty glass bottle, with Liz Earle's trademark shimmery midnight blue coloured lid.  It features a pump dispenser which releases a small amount of foundation at a time, so you'll never waste any.

The description on the bottle really says it all; this is a lightweight foundation that blends easily into the skin and offers a perfect medium coverage for the face.  I had no issues with it being cakey or going patchy etc, and the foundation gave me a semi-matte finish.  It does feel silky soft and it has a traditional foundation scent which soon disappears after applying.

I never expect liquid foundations to last long on my skin, so I was pleasantly surprised when I was trying this out with and without primer.  On naked skin, this lasted on me for around 8-9 hours, and with a primer underneath, it lasted until I went to bed at night.  I did experience some mid-afternoon shine on my t-zone, but I expected this and it wasn't a problem to quickly use a Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheet.

I chose the shade Nude 03 which is described as a 'fair/medium shade suitable for most Caucasian skin tones'.  This was a tiny bit dark for my light Olive complexion, but a perfect match for me personally as I tend to go a little darker with my foundation shades.

Summary:  I think this is a fantastic foundation and very reasonably priced too.   You get all the benefits of a classic high-end liquid foundation, but for only £21!

The Liz Earle Complexion Perfection Challenge

  1. I've heard only good things about this foundation so far! Though I'd need to try it before buying full size. I'm quite content with my Revlon Colorstay at the moment so I might give it a go when I run out :) xx

  9. Like you I have light olive skin. When I got a sample in the same colour you tried, Nude, I thought this would be way too light! But once it was on my skin and warmed up it darkened - too much. It hasn't put me off buying some though - will just have to buy it in shade 02.

    1. Oh that's a shame it darkened too much on you. I guess everyone's skin is different and some foundations can oxidise and darken on some skintypes. Glad it hasn't put you off though and I hope you have better luck with shade 02! x
