Etat Pur Salicylic Acid 300mg (15ml, £12.20, link)
I had a couple of requests to do a review of the Etat Pur Salicylic Acid, that I received in last month's Joliebox. As I have oily/combination skin that is prone to breakouts, I'm always on the lookout for products which promise to work their magic on unruly blemishes.
Etat Pur Salicylic Acid comes in two different strengths, 70mg and 300mg which indicates how much of the active ingredient is in the formula. Although it sounds scary (acid isn't really an appealing word to see in skincare is it?!), Salicylic Acid is derived from the bark of the willow tree. It's also one of the active components of aspirin. You may have seen my DIY post about how ground up aspirin can be used to treat blemishes.
This solution comes in a little plastic bottle which has a teat end for easy drop-by-drop administration. You simply apply 1 to 2 drops onto blemishes, twice a day and let it do its magic. I didn't notice any tingling/stinging sensation that is sometimes common with these sorts of products, instead I could feel the solution 'drying' and that was it.
I found that it cleared most blemishes completely in around 2 days, with a few extra days needed for any particularly stubborn or big ones. You can also use this for long-term treatment on acne. This bottle is something I will certainly be keeping on my bedside table for any spot emergencies!
What do you use on blemishes?
P.S: Congrats to Carys who has won the Czech make-up giveaway! Keep your eyes peeled for future giveaways :)
i've been on the lookout for an effective spot treatment lately, and i'm thinking of either getting this or the origins super spot remover as i've heard great things about that too!

I want to try the Origins too, but I've heard it's quite stinging which puts me off! xx
DeleteIt sounds like a really interesting product. I really wana try some of the Etat Pur range, it looks good :-)
ReplyDeleteDoes look like a great range :)
DeleteI got the same stuff in my JolieBox and it's not really helped my skin at all :-(
ReplyDeleteHave you been using it as a spot or acne treatment? I've heard varying reviews from both x
DeleteI was really jealous when I saw everyone getting this. I havent had any breakouts in a few weeks now, fingers crossed it stays that way but might pick it up so its there if I need it.

It definitely comes in handy if you're prone to them xx
DeleteI usually try to dry my blemishes out first, then I use a cream with salicylic acid and after that (if it is really bad) I will put ice on it to try to calm done any swelling or irritation as well as to close off pores around the blemish. That way the bacteria doesn't spread :)
ReplyDeleteYour photos seem to be looking better with every post! I especially liked the 2nd shot zoomed in on the teat.

I'll certainly have to try out the ice method! Thanks, I'm trying out a friend's DSLR at the moment so hopefully my photos will be clearer for the time being! :) xx

DeleteThis sounds fab! Wish I'd got one now! x
ReplyDeleteHow was the Etat Pur mask? x
DeleteI've not tried it yet ;) x
DeleteThe name almost sounds scary lol but I love finding new skin care products, thanks for sharing! Definitely need to check out your DIY on the aspirin :-)

Definitely give it a go! I'd say using crushed up aspirin doesn't work as quickly as this does, but it certainly helps and is super cheap! :)
DeleteI bought myself the Etat pur, Salicylic acid in A21, 70mg. I don't know what the difference is between the two. But I really like mine and find it works on blemishes. Lovely post :)

I think it's just to do with the strength/potency amount of the Salicylic Acid in it. Happy to hear it works for you! :)
DeleteI agree, the word "acid" doesn't sound appealing at all! I really fancy trying this/something similar! xx
