LUSH Haul & mini reviews

Sunday, 8 July 2012

I went into LUSH earlier today armed with some gift vouchers that I received for my birthday last month, and came out with all of these goodies.  I'm on a bit of a self-imposed bath and shower products spending ban at the moment, so no brightly coloured bath bombs this time around.  Instead I decided to stock up on some old favourites of mine:-

King Of The Skin
LUSH do some wonderful products that have no packaging and instead come in solid form.  King Of The Skin is one of those and it's a solid body butter.  It's packed with skin softening ingredients such as cocoa butter, almond oil, shea butter, organic jojoba oil and extra virgin coconut oil and has a subtle comforting scent.  You rub it over wet skin and then rinse off (I do this in the shower right before I'm about to get out), and it leaves my skin wonderfully soft.  The only downside to KOTS is that it melts very easily so it doesn't last very long, but I like to pick one up every now again for guaranteed soft skin.

 Dream Cream
I am rarely without a tub of this because it's just so good for eczema and dry skin.  I ran out a few months ago and have been using other products such as Barefoot Botanicals SOS Daily Rich Body Lotion, and whilst the Barefoot one is amazing, I have missed using Dream Cream.  It's gentle and soothing, but also feels quite light making it ideal to use in summer.

Buffy
Buffy is one of those cult LUSH products that everyone should try out at least once.  It's a fantastic solid exfoliating body butter made with ingredients such as shea butter, ground aduki beans, cocoa butter and ground rice. Use it away from the shower stream, rub it over any areas that you want to exfoliate and then rinse off.  It does leave a slightly greasy residue on the skin due to the amount of butters in it, but I find it absorbs well after 10-15 minutes and my skin is left feeling very moisturised.

Therapy
LUSH have a wide range of massage bars to suit a variety of tastes and one of my all time favourites is called Therapy.  Like KOTS and Buffy, it's made with shea and cocoa butter to leave your skin nice and soft.  In addition to these, it also has three essential oils; Lavender to calm and relax, plus Neroli and Orange to lift your mood.  I find this great to use when I'm feeling stressed and I use it as an all over solid body moisturiser after I've showered.

Catastrophe Cosmetic
I took back five empty black LUSH pots and exchanged them for a free Fresh Face Mask.  I decided to pick Catastrophe Cosmetic as my skin has been feeling a bit stressed out lately and this sounds like it'll be perfect for making it soothed and happy again.  Will post a separate review of this soon.

Karma Kream
My friend who I went shopping with suggested I try this out, so I asked the SA for a sample.  Karma is a love/hate scent for most people.  I'm leaning towards liking it from what I've tried on my hands, but it might be a little too sickly sweet to use all over the body.

For anyone who is interested in how I store the solid products from LUSH, l I just use their own brand of storage tins and have done for a few years now.  They do the job and are easy to clean!

I completely forgot to pick up a bottle of the No Drought Dry Shampoo which I've heard a lot of people raving about recently, so that'll be one to get next time!  I'm also very intrigued in the new Emotional Brilliance make-up range LUSH are coming out with at the end of the month.

Have you tried any of these?  What was the last product you bought from LUSH?

  1. Looking forward to hearing your views on that mask - torn between that one and Oatifix!
Not a fan of the scent of karma kream but the karma bubble bar is actually really nice :) think you're right about it being too much for all over the body, but my mum loves it and has the perfume too! xxx

    1. I think I'll have a little pamper sess and try it tonight! I have tried Oatifix in the past and really like that :)
I like the Karma Bubble Bar too, more so than Karma Kream at the moment I think! It's alright as a hand cream, but I can't see myself buying a full size pot of it. My friend is obssessed with the scent though! x

  4. Thanks for the reviews! I've been intrigued by Lush but just haven't bit the bullet in buying any of their products. I want to try their face masks but they're quite expensive here in Australia. xx

    1. Yeah LUSH does seem to be really pricey outside of the UK, I often hear that American bloggers buy from the UK site and get it shipped over because it's cheaper than buying it direct in the US, bit crazy! Does Australia LUSH have the recycling scheme for free face masks? xx

    1. Don't blame you, I'd do the same! I'm using up a tub of Lemony Flutter at the moment and have had it for ages, lasts such a long time. Was the make-up remover Ultrabland or 9-5? Have tried both of those and they worked really well :) x
