There doesn't seem to be a month that goes by without some drama surrounding a beauty box. I don't know what it is about these subscription services and whether it's a UK thing or not, but my oh my!
The June Joliebox was delayed due to an apparent mix up with delivery labels, which has also led to some subscribers this month receiving boxes that aren't customised to their beauty profile (unfortunately I'm one of them, but after emailing Joliebox today, they have responded saying "Please know that aside from the June box, we have not and will not yet be offering customized boxes.")
This drama seems to be very reminiscent of what has happened in the past with Glossybox, and I just can't comprehend why it so difficult for a company of this size, to deliver such a poor service to its customers.
When you pay for something, you don't expect to be waiting around to receive the goods for such a long time. I know that random, unplanned for things can happen, but it seems to be all the time with these boxes! Why?!?!
Anyway, mini rant aside, the June Joliebox actually seems quite promising contents wise. It's packaged in a wonderfully bright orange special edition box to mark their first birthday, and is filled with French goodies.
In my box I received:-
- a full size Elysambre Eye & Lip Pencil in 10, which is a pink-toned brown shade. The pencil is soft and smooth, and it's 100% natural, plus features 50% vegetal active ingredients. You all know that I love trying out natural make-up so I'll look forward to using this as a lip liner.
- 20ml sample tube of Institut Esthederm Bronz Repair Anti-Wrinkle Tanning Cream. This seems to be like a top up that you can use for extra protection over your regular SPF cream (as it doesn't contain any SPF). I generally don't like putting too many products on my face when I'm out in the sun because I find my pores get clogged very easily, but I'll try this out and see what's it like.
- 15ml sample tub of L'Occitane Hydration Cream from their new Angelica range. I love, love, love anything by L'Occitane so I'm excited to try this out, but have a feeling it may be too rich for my skin, so I'll give it a go first as a night cream. For the eagle eyed among you, yes, this was given out free with Glamour magazine recently, but was packaged in a tube instead of a little tub.
- 50ml Yon-Ka Pamplemousse Protective and Vitalizing Cream for Normal to Dry Skin. Unfortunately not for my skin type, so I'll probably pass this on to a friend or try it later in the year.
- Joliebox nail file, always handy to have one of these in your bag.
There was also some promo flyers with discount offers and a special 'Jolieticket' in which I won £5 off voucher to use in the Joliebox shop. Whilst this is a nice freebie to have, does anyone actually buy anything from the Joliebox shop? They have a flat rate shipping which is £5.95, ouch! So the voucher is more like an almost free shipping thing really. If anyone can make use of it, let me know and I'll happily forward you my code to use.
What are your thoughts on the birthday Joliebox and the drama?
Just wondering, I got the yon-ka cream for normal to oily skin but I have dry skin. Do you wanna swap? I've pulled the silver tab off to try a bit on my hand but that's it. Email me if you do :) rottenotter@rottenotter.com :) xx
ReplyDeleteThat would be fab, thanks Katy! Emailed :) xx
DeleteI used to use Yon-Ka products because my Mom did. I loved the gentle formulation :) Funny I don't hear too much about them when reading blogs. Thanks for posting I love seeing what everyone gets in their joliebox!

I'm looking forward to trying it out :) Me either, haven't heard much about them but they seem to be very popular in France! xx
Deleteohh my.. that sucks!! :( i hate waiting a long time for things.. anyways, what you got was really cool though!! i really wanna try the glossybox thingy, seems like such a good way to explore new products! :)

Yeah I just wish they'd sort it out! Beauty boxes are great for trying out lots of different products :) x
DeleteI've seen loads of people mentioning how late this box was. Atleast the products are nice though.
ReplyDeletexo
I think it was about two weeks late, but I agree, the range of brands in it are excellent xx
DeleteI'm really pleased with the contents but the delivery issue was really bad. My box was over two weeks late last month. Amarya is never late! We should get that next week! x
ReplyDeleteSame, mine was so late last month that they ended up sending me a replacement box because they thought it had gone missing! But I spoke to some other bloggers on Twitter about it and LOTS of people had the same thing happen to them :(
DeleteCan't wait for the Amarya one! x
I too want to have a little rant as well hun, I hope you don't mind and please tell me if you think I'm being unreasonable. I entered a competition to win one of the LE June Birthday boxes. I was a lucky winner and very excited to try JolieBox. I'd never tried them
ReplyDeleteBefore and plus the box looked cute! Anyway I hadn't received my box for a couple weeks so emailed them and didn't get a reply back. Then today the postman delivered a JolieBox to me which was in fact the FRENCH Januarys box. So the magazine is in complete French! The box is the black traditional box. The only good thing is the samples look great, one of which is a generous sizes Laura Mercier Primer.
I did email them today to tell them about me receiving this box and I was expecting the birthday box. Oh well I'm guessing I won't be getting the birthday box and they've sent this instead. I felt a little sad because I was really looking forward to the birthday box, I suppose I shouldn't complain because after all it is a prize and hasn't cost me anything. Sorry hunnie rant over lol xxx
I don't mind at all Sherrie, you're more than welcome to and I don't think what you've said is unreasonable. When they say you've won one of the LE boxes, you expect to receive that one, and not a past box. Sounds like they're really poorly organised with their stock because I saw the same competition on many blogs, so you'd think they'd be aware of how many winners they would have well in advance right? I do hope their service improves soon xxx
DeleteI really wish we could get these in Mexico...

I don't think I've come across any Mexican beauty boxes, but it would be interesting to see what you can get over there :) x
DeleteIt's kind of the same like goodiebox isn't it?
ReplyDeletecheck out my newest post about another blog, really good blog. check it out and leave a comment if you like it!

Yes, it's the same concept :) I always like seeing the Goodiebox posts, they have some lovely products and brands! Will do :) x
DeleteThe drama this month was pretty annoying, in fairness to JolieBox it wasn't actually their fault, but still really annoying. I too received the wrong box. I peeled back the UK Mail label and I have another label underneath with someone else's full name and address on it! Not really very good given the amount of fraud these days....
ReplyDeletexx
I know, it's just with people getting boxes late last month as well, it seems more like a problem with how they organise things in general. I took my label off as well before I put the box in the recycling bin and saw someone else's details, bit dodgy that! xx
DeleteThis box has such amazing samples!
ReplyDeleteIt does!
DeleteMine still hasn't arrived. I rang them today and they are issuing me a refund. So annoyed! xo
ReplyDeleteThat is very annoying, glad they're sorting you out with a refund though. Really hope they buck their ideas up soon! xx
DeleteThank you for the comment you left on my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post! Such lovely products!
